September is more than just a flip of the calendar; it starts an exciting and important time of year—back to school. Fall is my favorite season with the changing colors of leaves, pumpkin spice overload, shorter days, crisper weather, and back-to-school excitement. I was one of those kids who always enjoyed the return to school, and now that I’m a parent, I look forward to getting my kids back into the school routine. Whether you're a student, a parent, or simply someone who loves getting cheap office supplies while the demand for them is high, this time of year holds a special charm.
For students, returning to the classroom signifies a fresh start—it’s a chance to reconnect with friends and meet some new ones, tackle new subjects, and learn exciting new things. Each new year is a chance to reinvent yourself, recommit to excelling in your studies, and expose yourself to cool new subjects. As a writer, I find inspiration in the unexplored realms of knowledge.
However, students aren’t the only ones experiencing a fresh start. Parents embark on their own journey of emotions as their children venture into a new academic year. It's a bittersweet moment, watching my kids gain independence while remembering how much they relied on me when they were smaller. I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that my son starts middle school this year. I’m so proud of how far my kids have come and excited for all the growth they’ll make this upcoming school year. And to be honest, I am also a little relieved to have them out of the house during the day.
One of my favorite parts of the whole back-to-school season is the sundance and variety of office supplies available. Every September, I’m able to restock on reams of paper (yes I go through several every year—I am a writer! Also, I do recycle), find some new organizational items for my office, and refresh my supply of colorful ink pens perfect for editing. Even though my school days are behind me, there's a certain magic in stocking up on supplies that help keep me organized and make ready to tackle anything.
